This is the first Reduction Grid I ever made. I created this printmaking style as a lesson for my high-school students. Reduction printmaking is a process where the artist first carves the printing block minimally, uses it to print the first layer, then carves the same block more to create the subsequent layers. With each layer of carving the printmaking process becomes inherently more risky as mistakes cannot be corrected and additional prints cannot be made because the previous layers of the block have been carved away. This is a one-of-a-kind print and cannot be re-editioned. It measures 22" square and the image is approx. 21 1/2" square. This print will be shipped rolled in a tube unless otherwise specified, which will incur an additional cost.
