Level: Beginner to Advanced Printmaking Experience, Basic Machine Sewing Experience Required
Saturday May 25th 10am-2pm, Sunday May 26th 1pm-4pm
Supplies Needed: Sewing machine with regular AND zipper foot and bobbins/thread to bring to Sunday’s class, half a yard of PREWASHED solid colored fabric to print on Saturday, half a yard of fabric for lining (old sheets/pillowcases or men’s dress shirts are great items to upcycle for this purpose). Please bring a brown bag lunch on Saturday (microwave available), cappuccino/espresso and tea provided.
Zipper pouches are such wonderful organizational tools and oh-so satisfying to make! In this two-part workshop at my home studio you will learn the entire process. On Saturday we will create a simple design, carve it and print a yard of fabric with it. If you are interested in making a complex design, please bring it already drawn and you can transfer and begin to carve while others are designing. We will allow it to dry for 24 hours and return the next afternoon with our sewing machines.
On Sunday afternoon we will cut, pin and create an assembly line of zipper pouches. Expect to be able to complete two, but you may be able to squeeze in a couple of more, or at least have them prepped to complete at home with your newfound skills. A selection of colored zippers will be provided.
Limit of five students. Sometimes classes run over the scheduled time if students are really immersed in their work, I’m okay with that if you are. Exact address emailed upon registration
